Revision R2 (22/12/2020) changed the fan grill position for a camera flat cable slot

Revision R1 (30/01/2020) 1.changed the fan grill for better airflow (3.3V 37C idle). 2.changed the design of the parts so the print will be easier and standard spacers will keep the parts together which makes the assembly a lot easier. 3.added a bottom part with mounting screws on wall or other surfaces. 4.added a VESA75/100 compatible version of the bottom part (23/02/2020)

Hardware Required (R1 and R1 with MountingScrew)

  1. 1x 5V 40X40X10mm Axial Fan. I used 5V 0.14A normal fan but you can always use 5V 0.05A Nactua for couple of extra dollars. (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Noctua-NF-A4x10-5V-3-Pin-Premium/dp/B00NEMGCIA)
  2. 4x M2.5x20mm Male-Female Threaded Hex Standoffs for screwing the Pi board to bottom part. (McMaster-Carr 93655A018) https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/126/3476
  3. 4x M2.5x12 Pan Head Phillips Screws for attaching the Fan to the top part. (McMaster-Carr 92000A107) https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/125/3103
  4. 4x M2.5x6 Phillips Flat Head Screw for connecting the top and middle parts to the bottom part. (McMaster-Carr 91420A016) https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/125/3144
  5. Please note that it is highly recommended that you use heatsinks on the raspberry Pi 4 ICs, I found these on amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07217N5LS/ref=psdc_2998409011_t2_B07V9XDJNF) (14X14X5mm, 14X9X5mm, 8.8X8.8X5mm, 6X6X5mm)

Hardware Required (Original Version) (29/12/2019)

  3. 4x M2.5x12 Pan Head Phillips Screws for attaching the Fan to the top part. (McMaster-Carr 92000A107) https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/125/3103
  4. 4x M2.5x6 Phillips Flat Head Screw for connecting the top and middle parts. (McMaster-Carr 91420A016) https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/125/3144

Notes a. You can use the wire holders on the top part for easier assembly. b. the fan wires can be attached in two different ways.

  1. Red wire to 5V , and black wire to ground. (maximum cooling in price of more power consumption and noise)
  2. Red wire to 3.3V, and black wire to ground. (very good cooling, low noise)

Possible future enhancements a. Align the top and mid assembly holes for spacer installation b. Snap fit design c. Fan speed control circuit d. Stand for positioning the box on sides Please see the pictures bellow for more information.
