This clip will snap onto the EL wire sold by adafruit.com. I used 30 of these and the "EL starter pack" from Adafruit (19.95 USD) to light up my bike helmet.

Print 30 or so of these, and get some double-sided tape. Light up your stuff, and dream of Tron!

For my helmet design, I laid out the EL wire using masking tape. The 2.5 meters in the starter pack was the perfect length (you can cut the EL wire. Just put the little cap back on when you're done). I applied the clips to one side of the helmet, removing the tape as I went. Then I made the other side symmetrical. The inverting power supply takes two AAs, and clips to the back of the neck of my shirt. The unit has three modes: two flash frequencies, and steady-on.
