Always been a fan of the art of Escher.
Used http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:14544 lizard as source for the salamander, i changed it a bit but not much.

The circle is a big hexagon with the 1 salamander cut off from the corners. When cut I used some stamp inkpad to color the salamanders.
The 8 extra salamanders aren't really necessary but when painted you are more flexible when placing the colors in a pattern.
things to change:
My illustrator skills are crappy, (can't work with the damn program but it's used where i use the lasercutter and for every time I curse at the program i can work for about 5 minutes).
All the salamanders are just put in place, meaning that most of the lines are done multiple times, no big problem but it is not as it could be.
maybe with same Plexiglas i can cover the thing so it can be in vertical position.
The next time i'll print this, i will mirror the background lining so that it is not that helpful when puzzling.
