I was playing around with different small box designs and decided it would be nice to have one that only required a single piece. My new design allows a single box to be connected to others in order to create larger containers. It was originally designed to hold things like earrings and rings and needed to be able to be printed on a MPMD. The size of each individual box is therefore about 50mm x 50mm I have included different heights that can be combined into a larger block. The design should allow connecting boxes in a staggered formation as well as corner to corner.

The tolerances on this box are very tight so if your printer is not calibrated accurately parts may not fit together well. I have included a 5mm part that can be used for testing purposes. There is a taper on the bottom of each of the tabs that allow the tabs to fit more easily. This can be deceiving, fit wise, as the smaller heights will fit looser than the taller pieces. Make sure you allow the piece to cool before trying to fit. If the pieces are very tight you can try placing the parts in the freezer for a short period and see if that helps with the fit. Using a smaller nozzle may also provide a better fit. Mine was a stock 0.4mm and I printed at 0.35 line width and 0.28 layer height. If your printer calibration is off, you may also find that the sides fit differently, try rotating the pieces to find the best fit before pushing them together. They can be very difficult to separate if they are tight. To remove tight pieces try walking the pieces back and forth carefully in very small increments. A small jeweller's file or some sand paper could be used to smooth the walls of the sliding pieces to get a better fit as well.
