Modelo 3D Braille Scanner/Reader por skarasmanis no Thingiverse

Descrição

This object is designed to scan braille text and read it out loud or store it on internal memory to be translated into typed text in a word document or other text programs. This product could be used to assist people who are blind or partially blind to read braille much quicker and easier. It could also be used to help teach braille to people whether blind or not.The scanner end is angled to allow the scanner to be held comfortable. The bottom half would also be made with a comfortable rubber grip while the top half would be a shiny elegant black colored metal. On the one side there are a volume controls. on the front face there is the power button and built-in speakers just bellow. At the top end there is a headphone jack and mini usb port for easy hook up to the computer. Bluetooth would be built-in to allow the user to not worry about cords. The Devise contains no sharp edges and has a smooth finish to it allowing the user to hold it with ease and comfort. it also has a cap to protect the scanner.

This is just a conceptual design and does not contain any of the actual technology. A working modal would need several chips. This devise could potential work of a modified arduino or raspberry pi chip that would be customized for the size and shape of the scanner. Other required shields that would need to be add would be a Bluetooth, camera sensors, speakers, buttons and ports.

I am open to any suggestions you might have to add and am will happy accept new modifications to this design. I think this could be a great devise to assist people who are blind or partially blind and hope to see something slimier mass produced to assist people.

Instruções

This design was made using AutoCAD 2014 and is just the design.
Notes for Printing:

  • When printing the scanner it is best to remove the center part of the mini usb port due to the support that will get added. The .stl file included already has the center of the mini usb port removed and is ready for printing.
  • When printing the cap, it is best to print it with the opening facing up to reduce the amount of support added to the print. It will also give it a better finish and will take less time to print.
