If screen is placed over suction port so no small fishes are harmed it should be allowed like snipes or handpumps but dont quote me on that because I am still unsure. it has no moving parts for a pump so it should be safer than even handpump.

This cone has a 1" suction line on it and then it goes to a 3" line iirc to a sluce downstream could be a floating tube that collects dirt.

Would immagine its better to use sluce in fast moving water with alot of flow as not to damage ecosystems with muddy water.

Untested and probably will be for some time, the inlet hole could use some tweaking still smaller hole might work better try using tape to check?

I also have a idea for sorting black sand using gravity and several tesla valves

this might also work well as a water pump using air suction to get water up hill.
