This is a Tie Interceptor made by reworking the brilliant Tie Fighter by Breakfastsandwich. Tip of the hat to him for making such wonderful, inspiring models.
Instruções
Update 08.11.2018: My friend and colleague Arild Ness has spent hours doing an instruction manual for this model. You'¨ll find the PDF in the Files section.
There used to be an animated instruction over at Grabcad, made by the wonderfully talented trinityscsp. Sadly, it appears to be gone now. :( Link, in the hope that someone may be able to track it down again at some point: https://grabcad.com/library/laser-cut-tie-interceptor-wooden-toy-1
The enthusiasm over this model warms my heart. :)
The model is based on Breakfastsandwich's Tie Fighter. I reworked the panels in DraftSight and cut the model from 3,2 mm (1/8 inch) MDF on an Epilog laser cutter. All the files contain the same stuff in different file formats. The .dwg and the .dxf files are both the original drawing from Draftsight. The .svg file was made using Inkscape. Use the SVG at your own peril, acording to Thingiverse user Bastien45, the scale is off if the SVG file is used directly. The parts are laid out to fit on a single MDF sheet, size 60X40 cm (About 24X16 inches). The honeycomb pattern on the panels was added as a separate layer and etched before cutting (Inkscape somehow replaced it with different hatching). (The previous model had triangles, not sure which works best) The model in the pictures is a previous version, but this version should be equally easily built. I haven't made any instructions (don't know how), but assembly it like the original Tie Fighter by Breakfastsandwich until page 8 in the instructions for the original. The Interceptor panels are slightly more complicated to assemble, mainly because of the reinforcement struts I had to add to make the model more stable. My first attempt was fairly wobbly. Use the pics for reference, and do a dry run before applying any glue. Enjoy.
