A laser cut mechanical toy based off a planetary gear system.
Instruções
Cut from 1/8th MDF or plywood. Red lines are etched artwork and black lines are cuts.
Vitamins: 4 x M3x12 bolts, 4 x M3 nuts and thread locking compound
OR
4x pn 96082A100 tubular press fit rivets from McMaster-Carr.
Cut out the parts. Run the 4 bolts up from the bottom. Place the big gears around the outside. Place the gear ring inside the big gears. Put the sun gear on the central post. place the 4 planet gears around the sun. Put the top frame on.
If you used bolts, put some lock compound on the nut and screw them down until they a just flush with the top of the bolt. Don't overtighten.
If you used press fit rivets, use a vice (or arbor press) to push the tops into the bottoms. Don't overpress. If you are careful you can seat these rivets with a hammer, but a vice works better.
