Modelo 3D Mini Drak Launch Hook por claytonbakerjr no Thingiverse

Descrição

Just another mock up of my original launch hook to better suit the Mini Drak with a larger platform to better hold it to the base of the wing.

This is a remix from Zanthor's hook. I made some small edits to the hook area and added the 2 thru holes and a larger base for gluing it to the Drak.

I was asked what I use to attach this. Please read entirely because I feel it contains good info for making a successful hook. I use 2 items. Goop Hot Glue I smear goop on the mounting surface and you will notice there are holes in the front and rear of the mount. I add a bit more in those areas so when you attach it the goop comes through the holes and creates a cap (if you will) which helps hold it on. Remove any excess goop that has come out from under the hook and allow to dry for about 30 minutes. I then use hot glue around the outside edges, a nice bead all around and then another bead which spills over onto the hook platform. You will notice 2 angled holes in the hook itself. I generally use a small drill and ream these out to use either a smaller diameter spar or even a paneling nail. Push either through as a test fit and cut to length. I then use CA to secure either in these support holes. I have launched both of my Ritewing Draks and my HC44 with no problems. I tend to launch at about 16 to 18 pounds for the mentioned. Note: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND if printing in ABS (ABS will be stronger) that you give the hook a nice little acetone bath. Doing so helps the ABS bond together better thus giving you a stronger part. If your not familiar with how to do this its simple. You tube has several videos but here is what I have done. Use a can the size of a gallon paint can. Use something to elevate the part off of the bottom (a few inches) (something metal) then use something that the item sits on (something metal) that has holes or slots in it. Why? if you place the parts on a flat surface the acetone bath with melt them enough to stick to a flat platform. Sometimes hard to remove. (I use an old metal electric box and I took the fan cage off of a PC power supply and designed a lift platform to remove parts) Line the inside of the can with paper towels (the sides of the can not the bottom). I use small magnets to keep towels in place. Pour a couple of ounces of general purpose acetone into the can covering several areas of the paper towels. Place part inside of can and cover. (Be sure the part is not touching the liquid itself) The tighter the cover the better. Now watch the clock. Give the part about 7 to 10 minutes, once it starts to look shiny remove and inspect. What you want is a nice even shine and if you lightly touch the part with your fingernail you can feel that it has melted some because it will be softer than the original part. Timing and desired results are up to you. If you forget it and leave it in there...it will be melted :) Allow it to sit for about 30 minutes and its done. Note that the part will still feel a little flexible, that's OK because it will conform to the shape of the surface it is being mounted to. I scuff up the bottom of hook with sand paper prior to mounting.
