This is a single scale for making scale mail (chainmail with scales).

There's nothing complex about it, just print a few hundred and link them together with jump rings. It is tedious maintaining the correct topology until you get a good plate going, but then it starts going fairly quickly.

Settings: Mosaic printer, PLA, 0.25mm layer height (part is 1mm exactly) 2 solid layers and 2 perimeters so part is completely solid. Infill doesn't matter as there is none.I slice them 5x4 in slic3 to get a plate of 20 per print. I can build the mail about as fast as a plate can print, so it's convenient to just print and build continuously.

The pattern I'm using is simple; each scale is connected by two rings to the two scales diagonally above it. Check the pics for details.

I had ordered a few hundred in stainless from TheRingLord, but while waiting decided to print my own and practice assembling them.

Edit: I enlarged the hole so it would loosen up a bit with the 3/16" rings I'm using. File: scale_bighole.
