Small Gaming Keypad
This is a 21 keys gaming keypad, "similar" to the razer orbweaver. It has 20 MX switches organized with the same layout as the Ergodox/Redox.
Some sanding might necessary depending of your printer (there is a 0.1mm clearance for the base plate).
###Todo :
- Printed keys
- The wrist rest
###B.O.M. : Should sum up to less than 15€ on your favorite Chinese web-store.
- 1 Arduino pro micro
- 21 MX switches
- 12 M2 10mm self-tapping screws
- 2 M3 15/20mm screws + 2 2M3 nuts (3mm thick)
- 1 usb to micro-usb cable
- Some wires & soldering
- 20 switching diodes (I used 1N4148)
###Build instructions :
- Print everything
- Check that the build plate fits nicely in between the top&bottom parts and sand accordingly
- Screw the thumb part with the M3 nuts/screws
- Put your MX switches on the build plate
- Solder the switch matrix and diodes on the build plate (tutorial I wish I found earlier, magnificent album photo from MattDB). Using a hot glue gun helps to fix the wires before soldering.
- Solder two wires on the thumb switch and pass the wires inside the 4mm holes, then insert the MX thumb switch.
- Cut your micro-usb cable in two parts, near the micro usb plug. Then pass the usb cable though the 4mm hole on the back of the keypad. Re-solder the micro usb cable
- Solder all wire on the arduino pro micro and plug the micro usb cable
- Flash the firmware and check that everything is working (QMK keyboard firmware )
- Stuff everything inside the bottom part and but the base plate in place. Again, hot glue gun is your friend.
- Screw the top piece with the M2 screws
- Put your keycaps
- Enjoy
