now just to chat a little... is this as good as a real metal mic stand??? uhhh not really to be honest. The thread pitch to have a big strong coarse thread is a loose pitch so the clamping force is not super high, which means the caliper isn't rock solid in the base. but that being said it's definitely solid enough to take a good measurement! Works good for me. One little hack if you want a more secure clamp is to put a little rubber pad on the base side of the clamp jaws.
