These are backing disks for protocol droid eyes. Print them with the flat sides down so that you don't need any supports etc.

These are sized for 38mm eyes, but you may need to resize the 3D models depending on the size or type of eye you have. On my helmet the LED assemblies do not contact my eyes but you may need to reduce the depth depending on the LEDs you are using (I am using super bright 5mm 3.6V 20MA LEDs, wired in parallel with 1/4W 47ohm resistors on the positive leads. They are powered by 3AA batteries / 4.5V)

The main disc with the 3 large holes and large center hole (protocol_eye_led_holder.stl)

• has holes 3 evenly spaced 5mm LEDs
• the LEDs face outwards
• the large center hole holes your brass rod for the "pupil" of the eyes
• once you insert the LED's from behind (flat back side), you bend the LED leads at 90 degrees so they they lie flat. once you solder your LED's and resistors, shrink tubing etc. you can insert the rear cap.

• this snaps into place over the BACK of the LED
• this rear cap prevents the LEDs from blinding the wearer *you may need to cover the rear cap with black tape to ensure no light penetrates the rear cap, since people may print with a different opacity of PLA etc.
• there are short pins that line up with holes on the LED holder. You may need to drill the holes to clean them up
• ensure your brass rods can pass all the way through the 2 backing discs, your clear eye lens and make contact with the front eye grills
• the rear cap can be glued down over the LED holder with CA glue

The entire assembly can be hot glued over your brass or plastic eyes or held in place with epoxy putty, tape etc.
