Descrição
A print to assist with leveling your bed.
Directions
- Open in customizer and set layerHeight and layerWidth to match your current setup.
- Set distanceFromCenter to a number around 20% of your print bed size. On a 200x200mm bed, use around 40.
- Adjust the other settings if you wish.
- Create the STL and download it, and prepare it for printing.
- Check that the printer is ready and build platform is mostly level.
- Print the test you created.
- Examine the result and adjust the level. See the tips below.
- If the print was perfect, print your model. Otherwise go back to step 6.
Tips
- Issues which could mean the bed is too low:
- Gaps in the first layer.
- Corners or edges peeling up.
- Complete failure to stick to bed.
- Issues which could mean the bed is too high:
- No filament extruded/missing peices.
- Layer is not smooth/has bumps and lines.
- Leaves a trail of filament between pieces.
- Also compare the thickness of the pieces from side to side and corner to corner. You want them to be as close as possible.
- Remember that when you adjust a screw, it changes the whole bed. Make sure to counter balance as you adjust. For example, if one side is high and the opposite side is perfect, I will adjust the high side down and then the opposite side up about 1/2 the amount I adjusted the high side.
- Always use small adjustments. If you have a long print ahead of you, it is worth getting the leveling perfect.
- Note down on your printer which way to adjust your screws. Trust me, it's worth the tiny effort
- Make sure everything else is set before you try to level. Leveling should be the last step before a print.
