I got this Digital microscope from Banggood and fancied a proper stand for it. As it comes with a rubbish sticky suction cup. Grabbed the nicest looking Microscope model from Thingiverse and had a little play.

I extended the base (in not a very attractive fashion :P) to accommodate the added swing out of the microscope. Extended the inspection plate (and got shot of the light hole).

Modified the rack to print as one piece with an adapter to fit the microscope mount (now a slightly difficult part to print as most of it required support).

Got rid of the logo in the adjuster handles so as to save print time.

The central hub has had most of its clearances tightened up for a little more friction, I also increased the amount of mesh between the rack and pinion. It runs smoothly and holds itself up nicely.

The base I printed with no bottom layers, full hexagonal infill at 20%. This is so I can use my old sand filling technique. As the part is slab sided, ill add weight to it by filling the part with sand from the bottom, then sealing it all in with some resin, I use XTC3D from smooth on.

The rest is printed at 35% infill, 2 walls, 3 bottom layers, 4 top layers, 0.15mm layer thickness.

All parts were printed on my Ultimaker 2+ in colorfabb PLA/PHA. The three print runs took about 30 hours in all and roughly 400g of material.

I threw up the sketchup file, Not very organised, only grouped parts with no layers, but theres not much to it really :P.

UPDATE:

Ive added 3 shortened files for the base, platten and rack. These allow the microscope to clamp directly onto the rack without using the joint adapter. `much more stable and compact. I far prefer the design myself.
