Wow over 3000 downloads! Thanks for looking and using.
Stable Ipad stand (extended version added for those with New IPAD with case - like me, extended version will now slice but still retain those lovely corners).
Accommodates IPADs with and without thin cover in the one design. Now a version with screw holes to suit 6g/7g screws has been added.
Wanted a stand with more stability (e.g., when at sea).
To get even more stabilty, place more weight on rear of stand which I have run out a bit longer (with downward gravity dynamics) and/or can be clipped (e.g., via bulldog clip) securely to a surface edge.

Instruções
Hello from tealid... this is my first post.
To use:
Put on table and place ipad or iphone in vertically or horizontally. Apply additional stability features as needed (see below).
Design Features:
*New extended version file slices well - I am told (June, 2012)- of course if you have an UP 3d printer you won't need to worry about that.
*IPAD sits vertically or horizontally
*Access to button
*Accepts IPAD with shallow covers (to total depth of 10.5mm, extended version accepts to 12.5mm for the new IPAD and case)
*Added stability features
---square contact base
---longer base than some
---wider base than some
---lower base that can be clipped, wedged, held down
---low level spring built into rear support
*If you don't like the logo, it should be so small that you can just snap it off
How to:
If at sea or looking for extra stability you can wedge the back of the stand under a weight (that's why I ran the base further back and lower to ground than some other designs here). Also you can wedge the back under a door, or you can use a bull dog clip (large one) to hold it to a bench or surface without needing to clip ipad to anything (obviously this won't work for large swells - in which case you probably won't be interested in using an ipad anyway..)
"Why another IPAD stand?" - You ask.
Some IPAD stands are less stable than others (e.g., small bases that fall over easily when on light seas, or bumped, etc) and some don't accommodate the covers I have for my iphone/ipad.
The trick is getting the centre of gravity to be far back and low enough to avoid most light knocks or tips whilst at the same time maintaining viewing angle for most uses. Also to get a bit of spring in the rear strut allows for greater tolerance of movement (I have found) - a little but not too much. Of course I could have built something with a huge rear support but then you can't fit the ipad on anything but a huge table....
There are so many great designs here - I hope I can do justice with this post.
See what you think.... would love your feedback on this (my first) thingiverse design (love this site).
This design is for 3d printers (130 mm by 130 mm by 25mm), at .2 mm resolution should be easy to print in one color (I designed it for printing with r/l hand sides as the base to minimise raft contact area). Printed in 2hours 17 mins.
How to get one?
If you don't have a 3d printer let me know and I can print off for $15 USD + $5 postage (no insurance) and send to you with all the supports still on (you will have to snap them off yourself - sharp blade gives a nicer finish). It should be similar quality to that of photo.... product may vary due to updates, only offer this service for those who want.
I have posted a version which has screw holes for even better support (thanks to 'IsleofManTT' for the idea).
