In making the Minecraft torches ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:229421 ) I wanted a small, low-voltage, inline switch for the wall-wart cord. I couldn't find a suitable one so I made this inline adapter for the tiny slide switches common on battery-operated toys and lights.
If anyone knows a source for these tiny switches, please post it. I reclaimed mine from the little "tea lights" that I used to build the Minecraft torch.
Instruções
See gallery for size of switch and assembly. Tack it closed with a drop of cyanoacrylate or a touch of a soldering iron on the two top posts.
The thru-holes barely fit the cord on the wall wart adapters I'm using, but if you have a thinner cord you might want to drop a little glue in just before you push the switch down into the housing, to provide a little more strain relief. This is a very minimalist design and there's not much room in there.
Note that this is intended for the LOW VOLTAGE side of the adapter! There's no rating on the switches that I have, but I'm not going to use it over 12v and maybe 500mA.
