I own a MakerBot Thing-o-Matic but wanted a second 3D printer that worked the same way. Along came the discovery of MakerSlide so using MakerBot Gen4 Electronics/MakerBot parts on MakerSlide/Misumi and 80/20 extrusions, I present to you this 3D printer variant.
I have a working version but still trying to figure out how to mount the electronics. This is my second attempt with revised parts which I have posted.
Update 03/29/12 - Added more SKP files.

Instructions

Still trying to figure out where I should mount the MakerBot Gen4 electronics. Missing right now are

  1. Safety Cutoff switch mount
  2. Gen4 Electronic Mount
    Parts were printed with PLA.
The extruder mount is designed to hold the standard MK7 mounting plate.
Hot Bed Plate mount uses from 4 to 8 magnets to secure/attach to the carriage plate. Magnets can be sourced from SparkFun ( http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8643 )
    Thumbwheels origin: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:18823
I have an general sense of where I will place that BIG ATX PSU. It will most likely installed to the right. I have a video printing the prototype mount: http://vimeo.com/38744027 The SKP file and STL files for the PSU holder are now available.
Something wacky is going on with my ReplicatorG 29r2 where parts printed are mirrored. Since most parts are symmetrical it didn't matter but seems to affect:
    -MK7 Mount
    -Endstop Front
Yet another issue to try and understand. Did a little searching in the MakerBot operator with little success.
More info and instructions coming. Since it is taking me forever to figure out where to mount the electronics strategically, I am posting what I can. Parts were designed in Google SketchUp 8. Files will be uploaded eventually.
To hold the extrusions together and other parts of the printer, I use the following screws and washer:
