This is an enclosure that snaps onto a size 4 fish hook. It prevents accidental finger/upholstery/pet snagging. The shank sticks out so that you can tie a line to the hook whilst it is safely enclosed.

A plastic hook is placed on the end so that you can still secure the hook on one of the eyes of the fishing rod when stowing the rod.

The pillar on the base part that comes through the hole in the cover allows you to press the base out again after snapping it in place.
