Descrição
Teach students about graphing coordinates using this game inspired by battleship.
Instruções
Students will work individually or in pairs against one other team to be the first to guess the coordinates of each of the other team's shapes. Students may find it helpful to have two boards per team one to record their guesses and one with their shapes which also records the other team's hits and misses.
To start:
- Students will place the shapes anywhere on their game board. The shapes may not be stacked.
- Students take turns guessing coordinates.
- After each guess, the opposing team will declare if the guess was a hit or a miss and then take their own turn.
- When one team has hit all the points in one shape they should be told that the shape has been completely "hit" and play continues.
- The game is over when one team has hit all of the other team's shapes completely.
*For more advanced math classes students should guess lines using standard or slope-intercept form and mark these using rubberbands stretched between two pegs.
