Helper discs... YAY!
Use them in your slicer or modeling software to help prevent sharp edges from lifting off the print bed during printing due to cooling/shrinkage. ALL helper discs are 0.30mm thick, allowing for easy trimming & cleanup. If you want to make them thicker, you can "Scale the Z" based on 0.30 mm starting thickness 50% =0.15mm thick, 133%~0.40mm thick, and 166%~0.5mm thick... etc. Simply place them under any sharp edges prior to slicing and print!
Sizes include 30mm, 20mm (OD) with 5mm & 10mm holes in each, and 10mm (OD) with 2.5mm & 5mm holes. All discs also have Have the following revolutions: 1/4 (1qtr), 1/2 (half), 3/4 (3qtr), and full revolutions to help you to select the best one for printing your parts.
I created these STL's after watching them used on a "How to prevent your parts from lifting off the bed" video. These are also called "Mouse Ears", or "tabs".
It would be GREAT to have the 3D slicer software makers pick up something like this WITHIN their software. What I'd suggest if a software designer is reading this:
- Would like to say anything with major horizontal angles on the bed over some user customizable angle (45°, with straight lines being 0° and a right angle either way being 90°). 2) Tabs could be changed but would be default to .30mm, or two print layers thick.
- Option to use tabs on inside corners.
- Option to use tabs on Internal outside corners (an obtuse angle within the exterior perimeter of the part).
- Option to select sizing options and user place them (like the support tab like most softwares accomodate).
Just in case that never happens... just use these as a part and place them to your hearts content.
