My son needed to make a carbon atom for his Honor Science class. He decided that he wanted to make to coolest project this teacher had ever seen...
So we sat and chatted a bit, and came up with this project.
A 3-D printed 3-D carbon atom with rotating LED electrons.
This project serves as a great introduction to some nice making skills: 3-D Modelling and Printing, Soldering, Microprocessor programming, and creating an assembly vs. single parts.
Instruções
Print rings, base, and arms. in black ABS/PLA
Slice the nucleus with the MULTIPLY option on to make as many neutrons/protons as you need, times 2, as each is a half a sphere, make the protons/neutrons a different color.
Once we are done, I'll post pics and the arduino sketch and wiring diagram.
