This is my spin on a customizable base for the wonderful OpenForge 2.0 dungeon tiles from devonjones. While it's all my own code from scratch, it is heavily based on his OpenForge 2.0 Cut Stone Magnetic Base with some of my own features.
Love the idea of the filament saver base, but always find slicers hate the thin walls if it's not modeled just right for your setup. This design prints just like the filament saver base but let's your slicer perfectly slice the walls for your configuration. Hence, this is designed to print with a ~0.5mm+/- floor and NO ROOF and NO INFILL. Seriously, try it and your printer will print it smoother and faster using very little filament. You can print it with roof and infill just fine if you want more glue surface, but see the heat welding below.
- The decorative cuts that make the edge look like blocks slow down printing a bit, so I made them option to turn them off.
- Inset ledge that gives a slight shadow line between the base and the tile is also optional in size and depth from none to 1mm.
- Didn't see the advantage of the magnet eject hole, so that's optional.
- I prefer to heat weld (i.e. melt) my bases to the tiles instead of gluing, so this has optional welding tabs to take it from a three handed to two handed job. Simply take a cheap fine tipped soldering iron and just tap the tabs slightly to melt them to the bottom of the base. Doesn't take much.
There is Patreon page for OpenForge which many of us that are enjoying these creations are supporting. Completely optional, and I get nothing from it, but I highly encourage you to check it out and support the project if you can.
