We needed a customizable bookmark to make a unique, personalized gift for a friend. We could not find exactly what we wanted, so we designed our own and thought we would share the design in case anyone else had a similar need.

This bookmark is 0.06" (1.5mm) thick and has a 1.33" (33.8mm) high x 1.18" (30mm) wide x 0.02" (0.5mm) deep recessed area where you can insert a picture, phrase, or anything else you would like to use to personalize it. And, it also includes a hole on one of the upper corners so you can attach a tassel, ribbon, or cord. To personalize, cut your insert to size (printing on thin card stock and covering with the same size transparency film or clear adhesive label works very well and protects the personalized image). Once the image is inserted, use a toothpick to apply glue around the recessed border area of the image. Then, insert the cover into the recess to complete the assembly.

You can further customize the bookmark with a message by importing the STL file into Tinkercad or similar 3D modelling software and recessing text about 1 mm deep into the lower area of the bookmark.
