The Interface Board http://store.makerbot.com/makerbot-interface-board-kit-v1-1.html for the TOM should computer-less operation. Printing works well from an SD card, but the current TOM firmware does not include extruder support from the Interface Board so you still needed the ReplicatorG control panel to change filament before a build. This script solves that problem.

Preparation Open the f_change.gcode file in ReplicatorG and Build To File, saving the s3g file on the SD card.

Changing Filament

1. Loosen the filament drive tension screw.
2. Run the f_change.s3g file from the Interface Board.
3. When the Tool temp gets to 220C pull the old filament from the extruder and insert the new filament until it starts to extrude.
4. When the extruder starts running, tighten the tension screw as you normally do.
5. Allow the extruder to run until the new color is coming out correctly, then cancel the build. I have found that going to a darker color only takes a couple of minutes, but going from a darker color to a light color can take up to 5 minutes. The script is set to run for up to 5 minutes.
