Descrição

Print your own large clock or temperature display with e.g 100mm (4") digit height using standard 5mm LEDs.

Use the customize feature to adapt to other digit height or other LED diameters or font weight. You can also adapt spacer dimensions to fit in a picture frame. Also choose number of LEDs per segment.

For individual design change segment width, slant angle and mounting distance.

Instruções

Optimized for single extruder 3D printer. Print from LED-mount up. For a digital clock print 4 single digits and 1 colon (or 6+2 with seconds). Add spacers to fit in frame.

For more and diffuse light paint inside with silver or white ink.

For more diffuse lighting use LEDs with wide angle (straw hat) and/or sand the tip of the LEDs.

As diffusor in front you can use a sheet of paper or an opal acryl.

Recipe for a DIN A4 picture frame 4-Digit-CLOCK (e.g. IKEA "RIBBA" 21x30cm):

4x Digit:
DigitHeight = 85 SegWidth = 10 MountingDepth = 20 MountingWidth = 59 MountingHeight = 125
1x Colon:
(Parameters as above) ColonMountingWidth = 24
2x Sapcer:
(Parameters as above) SpacerMountingWidth = 20
Mounting:
Put a DIN A4 sheet of paper between display and frame glass. To connect the printed parts melt the spacer of the parts together with a soldering iron or (better) with a SMD-hot-air-gun. Use 2K glue to fix the display in the frame.

Recipe for a WIDE picture frame 6-Digit-CLOCK (e.g. IKEA "RIBBA" 50x23cm):

6x Digit:
2x Colon:
2x Sapcer:

Mounting:
Cut a DIN A2 sheet of paper to 500x230mm and put between display and frame glass. To connect the printed parts melt the spacer of the parts together with a soldering iron or (better) with a SMD-hot-air-gun. Use 2K glue to fix the display in the frame.

Controller (Suggestion)

To drive the LEDs use an Arduino with multiplexing in software or an integrated circuit MAX7219 which handles the multiplexing in hardware. For higher power or voltage use a driver ULN2003 and UDN2981.
