About
This Flower Wind Spinner is perfect for any garden or area. It catches all eyes as it spins, turns and twirls in the wind. It blows you away! It spins quite easily and the design was based on the beauty of a flower.
It's very simple to assemble because it only consists of 6 parts. The "joints” are threaded, so no need for screws, bearings and nuts or bolts. It has a ground spike so it can be easily "planted" into soil. You could print each part separately for different colours if you want or you could paint it, like I did.
Supports
I've designed some areas to not use supports, but some areas I couldn't. For me, the actual threads don't need support but the flat part above them do.
I printed the main body on the flat bit so no supports required there. The actual blade/petal part doesn't need support.
The flower “head” (yellow part) you could print it with the threads facing up, but then the finish isn't as nice because of the supports so I recommend printing it with the thread part touching the print bed. The leaf, ground spike, flower “head” and the connector between the main body and the spike, was printed with thread parts touching the print bed. The leaf needs a bit of support. The connector between the main body and the spike doesn't really need supports under it but it's up to you.
Post-processing/printing
All you need to do is take is off the print bed, assemble and you're ready to see it in action when there's some wind. Just a side note, before you assemble, I would recommend sanding the seams for a very smooth spin
Final Thoughts
This could also be a nice gift for someone, especially someone who likes gardening or flowers.
I had lots of fun designing this and I'm proud of it. I hope you all enjoy printing it and seeing it spin around.
