About

I created these trays as a functional test print that could be repeated on any printer at any time to quickly highlight any obvious issues. After printing a few I realised they're great for any assembly work as they can be dished out whenever you need them and accommodate a variety part sizes.  

What are they for?

I LOVE these for any temporary part holding process like printer assembly, or LEGO building. For example with LEGO I grab the different size trays to suit the size of parts in the LEGO bags, and pour them out so I can then easily grab the parts I need. For me it prevents parts getting lost and allows me to get into a really smooth and enjoyable build process which can easily be tidied away and moved if needed.

Printing

Orientation

These trays are designed to be printed ‘right way up’ so the opening is pointing up. We have designed a custom manipulated bridging technique to get a good join between the cups without needing large bridges.

Material

You can print in any material, normally I print in materials that I don't plan to use for anything else, maybe half spools that you don't have any use for, or colours that just don't match your style so much anymore.

Settings

I recommend minimum of 2 perimeters and 15% infill. On many of these trays they will print solid anyway since they are designed to be thin and strong.

Tessellation

The advantage of tessellation is that these trays can fit alongside each other neatly allowing you to make a super size organiser tray.

Sizing

The STL file names include the arrangement and sizing of the trays. A naming example is shown below.

Hex Tray 75x25mm 2x2

• 75mm = Outside size across flats of single hexagon
• 25mm = Height of the tray
• 2x2 = arrangement of cups in the tray
