Robot Description

This robot is a simple project, perfect for beginners. To assemble it, you will need the following components:

  • 2x DC motor with gearbox – for driving the robot.
  • 2x robot wheels for DC motor – wheels to attach to the motors and move the robot.
  • 1x Motor:Bit – an expansion module that allows you to connect and control the motors via a micro:bit.
  • 1x Micro:bit– the main control unit, easily programmable.
  • 1x Battery holder for 4x AA batteries (6V) – to power the robot.

Control Options:

Control via mobile app 

  •  If you purchase one micro:bit, you can easily control the robot using a mobile app - micro:bit.

Control with two micro:bit

  • By purchasing two micro:bit, you can control the robot using the second micro:bit as remote controller. One micro:bit will be inside the robot, and the other will serve as the controller

Leg support

  •  The robot may not be balanced, so you'll need to attach at least one support leg underneath, possibly two, as I did in my case.

Codes Examples

  • You can find the example code for the micro:bit here and the example code for the controller here.
  • You may need to adjust the code depending on how the motors are connected to the Motor:bit

Optional Upgrades

  • If you wish, you can purchase an ultrasonic sensor and program the car to auto-stop when it detects an obstacle within a certain distance.
