This was inspired by ManBearPig2114's Lithophane Frame Box - Vertical thing.

I loved how simple it was, but the particular photo I wanted to put in the frame was horizontal instead of vertical. I had a couple other photos to print for the holidays as gifts that were all different aspect ratios and sizes, so I tried my best in openScad to make a customizable thing so I wouldn't have to make a custom frame for each photo.

You can also change the viewing angle. Smaller angles give you more space inside the box.

You should be able to fit some LED strips and a battery too. The lithophane is meant to rest in the stand and be removable when you want to turn the lights off. This also means you could easily swap out the photos if you want.

I may play around with adding an optional small hole on the back, so you can fit a small clip in candelabra socket/bulb, or run other wiring through.

This is my first thing, and first time using openScad. Hope you enjoy!

Pro Tip

If your tea lights aren't bright enough or lighting the whole thing evenly, try adding tinfoil inside the box to increase the reflectivity. Idea came from ManBearPig2114's example

12/15/18 update

After printing it I realized there was not enough space to include my tea lights. The back had a thickness to it that is largely unnecessary, wasting space inside the box. The back thickness is much lower now. Might have an added benefit of printing slightly faster for some.

In addition to decreasing the thickness, you can now configure how much extra depth you need (measured from the top of the frame), so you don't have the same problem I did initially.
