I have several IEM ear tip sets, and I was tired of them being stored in separate boxes or just loose. I was also not a fan of the clear plastic divided cases. These work great to separate out different brands or materials, but they are really space-inefficient for ear tips.
So, I designed my own. It took a few revisions, but I got the posts sized to accommodate almost any ear tip. They press over each post and are still easy to grab out of the case. This makes tip-rolling a breeze!
Magnets hold the case together securely and are satisfying to play with. I made several sizes so you could pick which you like.
Parts Needed:
- Any Printing Plastic (I used ABS-GF, but PLA also worked great)
- 2 - M2x25 Bolts
- 4 - 10mmx3mm Magnets
Assembly Instructions
- Setup the print by dropping the desired file in your slicer and making 2 copies.
- DO NOT MIRROR; the hinge is designed to be the same on both sides.
- Print with 100% infill if you want the case to have some heft.
- Position the two printed halves with the hinges together
- Feed a M2x25 bolt into each hinge from the outside and tighten it down (the innermost hinge hole is slightly smaller, and the bolt should screw into the plastic there).
- Test the hinge and loosen or tighten the bolts as needed.
- Then press fit the magnets into the holes, and you should be done!
