Descrição
This model is for a Mason Bee Box. Additional reeds or tubes are required to complete and available at a hardware store or Amazon. I've included 3 different sizes of the Hive or Box for 4, 5 or 6 inch reeds or tubes. Pictured is the 4-inch box. Mason Bees prefer 5 to 6 inch tubes. With 4 inch tubes they will deposit very few eggs that produce female bees. 5 is sufficient to produce females. 6 is a large print however will produce more female bees. Female bees are necessary for a healthy bee population.
The box requires only 3 of the files. Choose a Hive and Roof file for the size of box you wish to make. Also choose which Bee decoration you want for the decoration. The 2-color Bee looks better however requires a printer capable of 2-color print. The 1-color Bee still looks good and is an acceptable choice. The Bee is a press fit into the roof. Super glue is optional and can be used to ensure the Bee doesn't fly away.
The roof slides into the Dove-tail joint on the top of the Hive. Slide the Roof in from the front of the Hive. The Roof fits tight so doesn't require glue to hold in place.
Eyelets can be added to the screw holes on top for hanging from a tree or awning. A hole is included in the back near the top to allow for mounting to a post or wall. I've included 2 holes on the bottom near the back of the box for ventilation and moisture leakage. Please read about Mason Bees before using to ensure your a responsible Mason Bee keeper.
I printed with PETG since it is better than PLA for outdoor use. PLA will work though. I used 2 wall loops and 15% infill; print parameters aren't critical.
