Descrição
This is a second desgn of my IV18 VFD clcok here : [https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3037333](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3037333)
This time have choosen the "most minimalistic" design. My goal was to get an almost floating clock : the tube just above the wooden base.
A full video of explaination is here : [https://youtu.be/8nM7E6NAlVk](https://youtu.be/8nM7E6NAlVk)
How I Designed This
tube connection
To get a "floating tube" I have been obliged to use varnished wire (the one you find into voltage transformer coils). 19 wires are coming out from the VFD tube. All can fit into a 6 mm brass pipe. This pipe is connected into a copper tube end used to close 18mm copper pipes.
I have nickel plated these pipes to give them a nice shinny finishwooden base
The base is CNC milled into 18mm block.
See the video for more details
electronics
A pcb was designed to fit into the wooden base.
The electronics is quite simple :
- step up converter to go from 5V to 24V : search for MT3608 DC-DC Step Up Converter Booster Module
- ESP32 lolin lite board
- MAX6921 : [https://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/en/ds/MAX6921-MAX6931.pdf](https://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/en/ds/MAX6921-MAX6931.pdf)
