This is a cylinder split into two or more sections with a hinge at each end of each section. The OpenSCAD model allows for breaking the circumference up into two r more sections. Each section is identical. The OpenSCAD file allows you to display a single piece for rendering for export, or to show what the finished assembly of all the parts will look like. This allows larger diameters to be printed than otherwise would be possible for any particular 3D printer. Supports are required. I find organic supports easiest. I have included a Prusa slicer file as an example. The example is 80mm inside diameter x 120 mm tall.
My use case: The yard guys nearly girdled more than one of my fruit trees with their string trimmers. I needed to make something to protect them (the trees, not the yard guys). Since used bicycle spokes are pretty much free for the asking, I have taken to using them in a lot of my 3D printing projects as shaft material or to stiffen things. In this case they make an excellent pin for the hinge. Someone clever could probably invent some kind of snap fit/ print in place version. I will just use bicycle spokes.
