My remix of the thingiverse:
A simple filament cleaner, three versions closed with a clip with different hinge clearance.
One version closed with two magnets with a diameter of 3 and height of 2mm (3x2mm).
The version with 0.4 mm hinge clearance is easier to print and sufficiently usable - I am currently using the previous v2 version.
Users @BKMorpheus_317287 and @SRDC_1903323 recommend a version with 0.25 mm hinge clearance - In my opinion, however, it is too tight.
I added the 0.3 hinge clearance version are tight enough but not as hard to print as the 0.25 version. Is optimal for use, so I recommend it too.
I destroyed my first two cleaners by opening them by pressing my finger on the lock. Over time I noticed that I could open and close them without touching the lock. The lock opens or closes by itself.
Print PLA or PETG.
Nozzle 0.4mm, layer 0.12 to 0.2mm.

My filament cleaner - already has over 2600 downloads.
I was wondering if there was anything else that could be improved ....
I re-modelled the body (slightly improving the model for FDM printing), kept the same dimensions as my previous cleaner. I improved the hinge design - now versions with different hinge clearance are not needed. I redesigned the closure method - adding a reinforced clip (unbreakable).
Link to the improved version:

How does it differ from other projects of this type?
1. it has a printed hinge - no need to wire or weld anything.
2. it has a reinforced (unbreakable) clip - so the cleaner will last longer.
3. by the way, it is a nice test to calibrate the flow in the printer:
- if the hinge is not too loose or too tight - you have a great flow calibration,
- if the hinge is very tight, the flow is a bit too high,
- if the hinge is too loose, now is the best time to calibrate the flow, after calibrating the flow - print the cleaner again.

Updated 03.05.2024
I found time to print the versions with 0.25 hinge clearance and find that they are hinged too tight - intended for really well-calibrated printers.
I leave them for people who like to print super tight hinges.
I added the 0.3 hinge clearance version which I recommend instead of the 0.25 the hinges are tight enough but not as hard to print as the 0.25 version.

Updated 17.04.2024
To celebrate surpassing 1,000 downloads, I've updated the three v2 models to v3 - I've added the filament scroll direction marking on the walls of the cleaner.
I've also added one version with a closure for two 3x2mm neodymium magnets (3mm diameter).
Personally I think three snap closure models are sufficient and simple to make, but if someone wants a magnet closure then one pair of magnets should ensure the cleaner closes well.
I haven't printed these new versions yet so would appreciate any feedback or comments.
Updated 30.03.2024
Due to the large number of downloads, I have decided to update the entire description along with the filament cleaner models.
I have left the previous versions of the model along with the description for reference.
I have included three current versions of the model:
1. filament_cleaner_v2_hinge_clearance0_5mm v0.stl
This is the version with the highest clearance 0.5mm hinge.
2. Filament_cleaner_v2_hinge_clearance0_4mm v0.stl
This is the version with the medium clearance 0.4mm hinge.
3. Filament_cleaner_v2_hinge_clearance0_25mm v0.stl
This is the version with the hinge with the smallest clearance of 0.25mm.
For new uncalibrated printers I recommend the 0.5mm hinge clearance version.
The 0.4mm hinge clearance version is optimal for printing and use - I use this version.
If someone has a printer that is well calibrated (primarily flow) they can try printing the 0.25mm hinge clearance version but I have not printed this version yet so I would appreciate any feedback or comments.
If anyone has any comment on them - I would be happy to listen and correct the models.
