Descrição
My wife is a quilter, which means she has to sew a "binding" around the edge of each quilt to finish it up. Many of the quilts are very large so she has tens of feet of binding to manage as she’s sewing it on.
I designed and 3D printed a “Binding Spool” that the binding gets wound up on. Then the spool hangs on a chain around her neck and gets fed out a little at a time as she sews. You can see how it works in this video: [https://youtu.be/CuigYNT3Vyk](https://youtu.be/CuigYNT3Vyk)
You can see how the binding is loaded here: [https://youtu.be/taJYd4Gaegs](https://youtu.be/taJYd4Gaegs)
You can see how the notch at the top prevents the binding from unwinding here: [https://youtu.be/BLCh4IcCcFM](https://youtu.be/BLCh4IcCcFM)

Resolution:

Filament: Ultimaker PLA Green
Notes:
Use whatever fast print settings work for your printer -- this is not a complex print, so finer resolution doesn't help much. I used a 0.8mm print head and Cura's "Fast" defaults, except I chose the Gyroid infill for strength in multiple directions.
Update:
I had a request to upload a 6" tall version (original is 4" tall), and I discovered a bug in the parameterization of my Fusion360 design file. I've kept that original up, but posted the fixed version that will let you update the height parameter in Fusion360 without it going crazy. I've also posted that 6" .stl here.
