Companion to the Gridfinity utensil holder that I created. This is made for butter knives or steak knives. Holds up to 8 and has a curve at the back so it's easy to remove each from the block. Entire block is 6 units high so they can easily stack.

New version for Jan 2024! 

Features:

• Thicker walls to make it stronger (really needed with a print this size). Only added 30g of filament. 
• Now has 8 knife slots instead of the previous 9, since most knives come in sets of 8. 
• No screw/magnet holes on this new version, since it's heavy enough that they are unnecessary. Prints faster and more cleanly with less waste.
• Changed from a rounded slope to a straight chamfer. This results in less “jaggies” and a better finish.

I've tested this with multiple different butter and steak knives and they all fit. If you have extraordinarily large or thick utensils, you may need to customize the model to your needs. I've provided the SCAD file, but be aware that it is very “quick and dirty”. Don't expect documentation of the parameters I've used here. I've printed with both .4 and .6 mm nozzles at .2mm layer height. I used 15% infill for the pictured version, but it could probably be reduced to 8% or so without any loss in quality.

Note: This will not print flat on a standard sized Ender or Prusa printer. There are two options:
1) It can be printed as a single piece standing upright at about a 60° angle, but requires supports and a brim. Uses a LOT more filament this way, due to the supports.
2) It can be broken into two pieces in the slicer, then glued or plastic welded. This can be difficult, due to the thin sides. This version has thicker sides to make it easier, but there still is not a ton of mating area.
