Box reveals hidden message when switch is turned on.

A network engineer friend of mine always offers to “disconnect the network” as a solution to any problem we're having so I gave him a black box with a toggle switch that lights up the inside of the box revealing a ”Network Disconnected" hidden message.

I used a cheap single led flashlight replacing the switch and reusing the battery holder and LED.

Box top and bottom is friction fit so it can come apart to replace the batteries. I printed the box in black and made a white reflector insert to brighten up the light from a single led to illuminate the text properly. Box is 5 in x 3 in x 1.5 in or 127 mm x 76.2 x 38.1. I also printed a single .4 mm yellow rectangle and super glued it over the alert icon to make it appear yellow.

Push the hinge through the top (I used super glue to hold it in place) and bolt the toggle cover to it.

Can be modified to reveal any hidden text, svg file, etc. by offsetting the cut from the top of the box to 0.04 mm. This makes the box appear to have a solid top.

Can also be modified to use any type of switch rather than a toggle switch. Push button, slider, etc.

Print top of box face side down, hinge sideways with support.
