Remix of op00's Zipper Pull.
I needed a couple of new zipper pulls for a laptop bag that sees daily professional use in the field. It has a really fat zipper with quite a heavy pull. The original design by op00 was great, but far too flimsy for this particular job.
The internal piece is twice as thick and redesigned for strength. At first I left the original design unaltered and just made it 50% thicker, but that broke with its first use.
The shell is entirely new.
My version is probably distinct enough to be considered its own thing. I'm leaving this as a remix, however, because op00's model was the starting point.
This is a big boy. The internal piece alone is 2.4mm thick. You may want to measure your zipper to check if this will fit. If it doesn't, you ought to be able to scale down both pieces accordingly in your slicer.
Printing:
- PETG recommended, though ABS would be ideal. PLA is too soft.
- 0.40mm nozzle.
- 0.15mm layer height.
- Print the internal piece with 100% infill for max strength.
- Print the shell with the open end facing up.
Assembly:
- Gently spread open the internal piece and feed one end through the loop on your zipper.
- Apply super glue by dripping it down each of the shell's interior faces.
- Slide the shell onto the internal piece.
- Allow enough time for the glue to cure before use.
Good luck!
