Hexagonal Drink Coasters

Simple drink coasters taking advantage of intricate designs of different infill patterns. It is a basic shape with 0 top layers and tuned settings for optimal size, cup support and printing in PLA.

With diameter of ~10.5 cm they fit most standard and some larger cups.

PLA may be controversial for hot cups, but given how small the area of contact is I have not noticed any deformation after couple of months of use. Just don't spill it ;)

Included designs are:

• concentric,
• archimedean cord,
• hilbert curve,
• hexagonal (honeycomb),
• triangles.

The first 3 were printed and tested, others are a bonus.

The included 3mf files have modifier put on the model as it is easier to modify in PrusaSlicer that way. You can play with fill pattern to get different designs, just remember to adjust fill density accordingly to ensure proper cup support.

Printing tips

The 3mf files are setup for PLA with 0.15 mm layers and some other custom stuff, best to reuse it and tune from there. Smooth plate recommended. 

Important thing is to set following:

• 0 top layers,
• 8-12 solid bottom layers (I've used 10),
• 4 or more perimeters.

Let the model cool completely so it does not bend when separating from the printbed.
