Gridfinity is a storage and organizer system introduced by YouTuber Zack Freedman in this video. In this video, he outlines the specifications, with a good bit of documentation of the Gridfinity standard published on [http://Printables.com](http://Printables.com)
A few base bin designs are available, but I found the holes in the bottom too big to fit magnets properly, forcing me to glue each one in. This is messy and time-consuming. I decided to model my own from scratch so the magnets fit snugly. I also wanted this to print properly without the need for supports.
Label shelves sit on top of a 45-degree overhang to facilitate printing on all printers without supports.
I parameterized a few dimensions in the model, and after experimentation and some test prints set the magnet slots to 6.2mm diameter with a depth of 2.3mm. This makes it easy enough to press fit the magnets so they're retained by friction and provides a tight enough fit to have them stay in their slots. The standard calls for 6.5mm which causes the loose fit, so this is a deviation from the proper standard. This provides a very clean and low-effort result.
Bins with ramped in their name have a 14mm fillet, while bins named ramp21 have a 21mm fillet which I found to be easier to use when trying to extract a small part from a deeper bin.
These bins will fit 6x2 round magnets available from Amazon.
Gridfinity supportless 1x1 bins, stackable basic or with label or ramp.
