Descrição
This is a parametric knife block for that can be adjusted to all your knifely needs.
It consists of the main body and adjustable insets. So, you can simply print a new inset in case you buy a new knife.
I also added text to show where which knife goes, but that is not really needed, I think, so I suggest to not add the text. I uploaded the model without the text, you can add it yourself if you want. My suggestion after using the knife block for a year or two: Add text to the insets. You could even make the text pop by changing the material color at the right layer.
On the bottom, there are cutouts for small silicone feet to reduce slipping. It is so much nicer to use with these feet.
Printing
I printed everything is PLA, which is perfectly fine. The clearance is good enough for even the worst printers.
Adjusting the insets
I added Fusion 360 examples for the size 2, 4, 5 and 6 holes wide. You can adjust these as you need. Make sure to add enough clearance to fit the knife so you do not actually have a too tight fit.
Width:
2 holes wide: 19.8 mm (wide enough for a sharpening rod)
3 holes wide: 29.8 mm
…
6 holes wide: 59.8 mm (biggest kitchen knife I have)
so, as an equation [number of holes x 10 mm - 0.2 mm]
Length: 129.8 mm
Height: 9 mm
The distance between the holes is 10 mm.
Dimensions
The longest knife you could fit is 30 cm / 300 mm. If you need space for longer knifes, simply print body part 2 or 3 twice (modular stuff is amazing!).
Material
The only other parts are four M3 x 6 mm screws per inset. I use DIN 912 hexagon socket head screws. They do not take any force or weight; they just keep the insets in place.
