1.- Introduction
Since I was a child, I was always attracted to puzzles that can be assembled in different ways.
This puzzle is a simplification of the Octagonal Pillars Puzzle, that leaded to have all the 12 Quint 2D figures together with a 2x2 cube to be arranged in a 8x8 plate.
Quints are 2D shapes built from 5 different squares, and there are up to 12 different unique quints possible. This puzzle uses all the 12 of them. (Quints are planar Pentacubes)
Designed using the same sketch from the Octagonal Pillars Puzzle in Fusion 360, removing the pillars and making the pieces composed by squares..
The goal of the puzzle is to assemble all 13 pieces, accommodating them in the 8x8 plate.
It seems that we have at least 50 different solutions to it and you are invited to show them.
For every solution you find in this puzzle, you can map to a similar solution in the Octagonal Pillars Puzzle.

2.- Printing the Model
The model is composed by a base and the puzzle 13 pieces.
No special requirements exist for printing the parts, no supports are required.
The filament budget is:
| Part | Print Time | Filament used |
| Base | 1:58 hr | 10.18m / 30.61gr |
| All 13 pieces | 4:36 hr | 15.82m / 47.56gr |
| Totals: | 6:34 hr | 26.00m / 78.17gr |
For the base, I used default settings, that is, 15% “Gyroid”, 0.2 layer height. (That is default settings)
For the pieces as displayed in the pictures above, they were printed with a “Honeycomb” infill pattern at 30%, zero top/bottom layers, and 6 perimeters, for making the borders nicer. You can print them with the same settings as the base for simplicity :)
3.- A word of Tolerances:
The model includes parts that need to be assembled in different positions, therefore a 0.5mm tolerance was added, this tolerance should be enough for all kind of printers.
Drop me a note if you need a model with tighter or loose tolerances and I will be happy to model it for you.
Happy playing.
