Storytime:

A long while ago I had a pair of glasses with detachable temples (JUST+ Line) that I loved. I had 2 sets of temples with different designs.

One fateful day, I managed to break the right temple of both sets, which meant that I was left with the glasses themselves but with no right temple to hold them on my face.

So, while using steel wire as a makeshift temporary temple, I took one of the non-broken temples and started designing a replacement for printing. Took a few versions to get the attachment mechanism just right, but after a few days I had a brand new set of self-made temples (which were unfortunately bright green as the spool was already loaded in the printer and I was too lazy to change it).

I used those for about 2 weeks until I was able to get a new set of temples.

I won't lie and tell you they are perfect. The way the original temples were designed made it a little hard to print without any imperfections (Still pretty easy to print) so some sanding was required to get a smooth enough finish for them to be comfortable. The attachment mechanism however worked great as-is for me, no sanding required (maybe just a little help to remove support material with a scalpel)

I used those as temporary options until the new originals arrived, but the design has the potential to help create endless custom designs of temples so there won't be a need to conform to the (honestly pretty wide) selection available from the manufacturer, or pay the pretty steep price for a set of new original temples.

Technically can be painted in white and painted for a custom look, I never tried it so if you do be sure to post a make :)

Printing notes:

Print orientation: Top face of the temples.

Technically can be printed without supports, but supports are highly recommended for a smoother finish after sanding and for a properly working attachment mechanism.

Can be printed in PLA, but not recommended for long term use since they will most likely straighten out and/or deform under the stress and the heat of the human head (In included pictures, a set I printed for my mom who has the same line of glasses and broke her single set of temples which straightened out after around 2 weeks of use).

Later printed a set out of Nylon-Carbon Fiber filament which held up to the stress and heat much better.
