Modelo 3D Orange Pi 5 Plus Tower Case Version 2 por John U no Printables

Descrição

21-JUL-2025 UPDATE: Version 2, all models updated. I redesigned the case to use M3 x 5 mm screws to hold the face plates to the PCB. (instead of the previous friction fit) This version is also safe for the micro components that are close to the edges of the PCB.

27-JUL-2024 UPDATE: I modified the front and back panels so that they will no longer come in contact with some surface mount components that are very close to the edge of the circuit board.

06-Jan-2024 UPDATE: Shout out to bsmely for the idea, and not to be outdone, I figured out how to use the curves and lattice2 workbench in FreeCAD to create my own hex grid vented sides.

27-AUG-2023 UPDATE: Found an alternative 40mm fan (see picture) and added a new top vent with friction fit pegs.

This is my second case for the Orange Pi 5 Plus.

The vents on the side pieces are a bit ambitious and resulted in some curved overhangs. They wont print cleanly, but I have oriented the part to print upside down so any messiness will be located on the inside of the case and not visible after assembly.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:  Prusa

Printer:  MK4S

Rafts: No

Supports:  No

Resolution:  .2 mm + 3-shells/perimeters

Infill:  20%

Filament: Overture  PETG Pro Black

Notes:

I added small tabs to the front and back face plates to insure the thin edge stays stuck down to the print bed. You will need to trim them off with side cutters. All parts can be printed without supports, small over hangs may be a little messy but will still work and not be seen. The sides of the case need a brim when printing to help keep them from falling over.

Print the parts in their given orientation. USE A BRIM ON THE SIDE PIECES. There is a curved overhang on the side piece with slotted vents and they wont print cleanly, so I oriented the part to print upside down so any mess will be on the inside of the case and not visible once assembled. You can also try using 'supports on build plate only' for the sides with the slotted vents. (I suspect most people will use the hex vented sides though.)

I always print everything with a minimum of 3 shells/perimeters.

Post-Printing

Other stuff you will need...

40 mm x 10 mm 5 Volt Case Fan

  • I used a Noctua NF-A4x10 but its over kill since you only need a 2-wire fan
  • I also used a WINSINN 40mm 5V Fan - Hydraulic Bearing 5000 RPM 4010
  • NONE of the 40 mm x 10 mm Fans I could find have a connector that fits the Orange Pi 5 Plus fan header.
You either need to buy Male 26AWG JST 1.25mm 2pin Wire Connectors and replace (solder) your fan's connector,
or build an adapter using the Male connector above and a female XH2.54-2PIN connector.
An adapter like this will only work with a 2-wire/pin fan. For the Noctua fan I bodged a JST 1.25mm 2pin connector
and 2-pins from a 2.54mm Male Breakable Pin Header Strip to shove them into the Noctua fan plug.
(if you use a fan with more than 2 wires, you will need to look up the wiring pin out of the fan you use)

M3 x 5 mm Screws (4)
Soldering iron and solder
Super small heat shrink tube
Footers for the bottom:

  • I used Scotch SP951-NA Bumpers and Door Stops, 1/2" Round, Clear (4)

How I Designed This

About the design process...

I run Ubuntu Linux on all my home computers. This limits my choices for CAD software so I have taught myself how to use FreeCAD since there is a native Linux version that seems to be getting more stable as time goes by.
