Overview

These modular storage baskets have sort of a Voronoi appearance and are designed to be used with Velcro One-Wrap, allowing you to easily add more baskets and adjust their vertical spacing when hanging.  Alternatively, there is a notch near the top for hanging individual baskets with hooks.

I was inspired by the contraption my wife uses to hang her purses on our closet door.  I think it's a great way to make our otherwise basic door multipurpose since it now serves as both an entry to the closet, as well as expanded storage to save space on our shelves.

I made the design in Fusion 360 and it is parametric!  The original .f3d file is included here and here's a brief snapshot of the different parameters you can manipulate:

As I was playing around with the parameters, I did notice that sometimes it's possible to “break” the model.  The most common issue is that “Combine1” will not regenerate properly.  The simple way to fix that is to edit that feature and make sure all solid bodies are included in the selection.  My best advise is to stay within the maximum and minimum values that are listed to help avoid regeneration issues.

I've included the following default basket sizes that use ¾" (20mm) Velcro strips:

• Short - 150 x 100 x 60mm (length x depth x height)
• Medium - 150 x 100 x 100mm
• Tall - 150 x 100 x 140mm

You'll also need two of the door hooks, with one for the bottom and the other for the top of the door.

8/12/23 Update: Modified the door hook to have a “pull through” slot

Printing

I printed in Polymaker Burnt Titanium PLA on the Prusa i3 MK3S.

If you re-slice, just be sure to orient the parts similar to the g-code examples.  I also recommend adding supports under the top Velcro slot on the basket.
