Descrição
Use case
Helps to hold a certain angle while sharpening (kitchen) knives on a stone. The jig matches sharpening stones that are 70mm wide. I designed it with the Shapton KUROMAKU series in mind.
Variations
Model comes in two variations:
- 15° for Japanese knives (30° for double-bevel knives)
- 20° for European knives (40° for double-bevel knives)
Customize the design
You can simply scale the model to accomodate the size of your specific sharpening stone. Keep in mind that you might want the jig to slide a bit, so do not aim for the tightest fit.
Printing instructions
Model orientation
Rotate the model upside down to require as little support material as necessary. Depending on your printer you might even skip the supports for the small chamfers.
Settings
I used 10% infill and 0.25mm layer height (draft mode) on a 0.4mm nozzle. The jig only needs a tiny bit of strength because it will mostly receive diagonal stress.
Material
I used PLA. PETG might be a better fit, because the jig will definitely be in contact with water and stone residue. Both PLA and PETG are food-safe.
