UPDATE 20240110: If you have previously downloaded one of the spool supports, ensure you use the latest mk10 version.
Prevent your spools from crushing during vacuum sealing.

Spool Supports consist of two halves that connect together and sit just inside the edges of the filament spool.

There are no strict “standards” that govern spool dimensions across manufacturers. But the 60mm x 200mm support should fit most of the Bambu spools outside of the Matte versions. The Matte spools, white-ish in color, use the 63.5mm x 200m support.
Spool Support Models:
| Spool Type | Inside | Diameter |
|---|---|---|
| Bambu Clear Spools / Polymaker | 60 mm | 200 mm |
| Bambu White Spools (PLA Matte) | 63.5 mm | 200 mm |
The two identical halves snap together with integrated snaps. No additional hardware is required:
UPDATE - 10 Jan 2024
- Updated version mk10 adds a solid ring midway between spool sides
- PLA has been working for me, but you may need PLA +, Pro, Tough, or PETG
- Do not use Matte PLA; Matte PLA does not have strong interlayer adhesion and could be more prone to failure.
- Have tested a couple dozen of these over the past few weeks with no failures
UPDATE - 28 Dec 2023
- Updated version mk9 increases thickness near the center at the weakest point
- PLA has been working for me, but you may need PLA +, Pro, TOugh, or PETG
- I have removed the magnetic version, only snaps are available moving forward
UPDATE - 27 Jul 2023
- Updated version mk6 has a thicker 3.5mm wall, prior version had 2mm
- So far, so good, but more testing time is needed
- PETG may be a better choice than PLA, but I am currently testing with PLA as this should be the worst-case
UPDATE - 25 Jul 2023
- PLA may not be the best choice:). I had an implosion today on one of my spool supports
- I will update the models to be thicker, but you may want to stay with PETG for now

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Print two of the desired variant (support halves are identical)
- Needs strong layer adhesion
- Use higher print temps
- Use slower print speeds
- More perimeter walls (columns should have no infill, only walls)
- No support is required
- No brim is needed, but your mileage may vary
- My sliced version is 80g with a print time of 3 ¾ hours
- Although PLA may work (still testing), PETG may be a better choice
Let me know if there are other spools you would like added.
Enjoy!
