Tired of basic tea lights and just so happen to have 3mm plywood, a laser cutter, and shoji paper laying around? You are in luck then as you can make these basic tealight holders!

Materials

3mm wood (I used Baltic birch plywood)

Paper for diffusing the light (I used natural color shoji paper)

Tealight (I've used actual candles in mine, but be safe)

wood stain or paint (optional)

Construction

The first step should be staining or painting the pieces as it will make everything easier later. Next glue your diffusion paper to the back of the walls. Make sure you are consistent on what face you glue it to. I used just plain glue stick and it's sticking just fine. Once everything is coated, glued, and dried, up next is the construction. The bottom is made of two layers, a solid layer and a layer with a hole. The solid layer goes on the bottom with the hole being used to hold the candle in the center of the holder. All four walls are the same and should be simple to get them to lock into place. I used just a dab of super glue to hold everything in place.
