There are a few pillboxes/organizers on here, but I couldn't find any that weren't ridiculously oversized for my needs. 

I needed a compact box to hold a handful of tiny supplement pills, so the compartments could be tiny, so I designed this. 

Somewhat inspired by boxes like this, and this, both of which were too big, still.

There are other boxes which use magnets for the mechanism, but they all seem to require a magnet size not easily found here in the UK, so I've gone with 3x2mm circular magnets. 

You will need somewhere between 10 and 16 magnets, depending on how “snappy” and tight you want the action of the lid to be. More magnets means it'll be harder to turn but also runs less risk of falling off in a pocket.

I've settled on 8 magnets in the base and 2 in the lid, at opposing corners. 

V2

After feedback on Reddit and other places, I decided to tweak the design a little to make it modular. Some folks expressed an interest in using this form factor for morning/afternoon/evening pills. 

The V2- STLs are meant to stack on top of one another. 

You will need at least one V2 base and V2 lid. Add as many V2 middle disks as you'd like. 

Bear in mind that each pair of surfaces will need similar magnet configurations. If the “bottom” disk has 8 magnets, then the underside of the “middle” disk will need 2-4.

The top side of the “middle” disk will need another 8, then the lid or next “middle” disk will need 2-4 again.

Don't load up on magnets everywhere unless you want a really clicky mechanism that's awkward to turn one-handed.

3D Model

I've included the F3D model for you to play with. Feel free to adjust the user parameters that are starred. If you mess with the others, the model will quickly become “modern art”. 

Printing

Print with the flat surfaces down on the plate. 

Filament: Whatever rigid filament you like. Personally, I printed it using PLA.

Layer Heights: 0.12mm for best resolution on the embossed letters and least chance of drooping bridges. You could go lower or higher. There are no rules.

Tolerances: The holes in the model are designed with a 0.2mm tolerance built in. If your printer accidentally strings or oozes when printing the perimeter of the holes, leave the ooze. You can use it to your advantage when press-fitting the magnets.

Nozzle: 0.6mm

Wall thickness: 1.8mm or more.

Infill: No more than 15-20%

Supports: None required. If you find yourself using supports, something is upside down.

Ironing: Optional, if your slicer supports it - it will make the contact surfaces slide against each other smoother. Otherwise, sandpaper.

Assembly

You will need to press-fit the magnets into the holes in the base first. Make sure you get the polarity right. If you get one upside-down, you'll ruin everything. The easiest way to make sure that they are all the right way round is to hold a stack of them, and use it to poke the bottom-most one in. 

Once it's in, make sure you still have the stack the right way round, and continue.

To fit the magnets into the lid, just pop a couple of them, loose, on top of two opposing corners on the base. Then position the lid, and press-fit.

You might need to drop in a dab of superglue if magnets are too loose in their fittings.
